Find Your Joy
I have been in my regular Sunday night routine of watching Hallmark Christmas Movies before I go to bed. Part of that means that I am watching a ton of commercials suggesting the best Christmas gifts. There is so much I could write about that alone (I mean, I find it interesting that all that women could be interested in are hair tools and items for cleaning), but I digress.
One of the commercials is from a popular chain here in Canada, and the tagline is Find Your Joy. Which is a lovely sentiment of course. It got me thinking about joy and realizing that I feel quite adamant about the fact that joy is not found in a store.
To me, joy is that part of you - the core of you - that doesn’t waver. That you can tap into no matter what time of year, and that can carry you even when you don’t feel like it. Happiness, on the other hand, is fleeting, and generally based on external forces.
I agree that everyone should take the time to find their joy. Just don’t look at it as a quick fix. Real joy is everlasting and requires a lot of reflection and cultivating.
